While We're Away
Clear Expectations
Trip rules (for students) and expectations (of volunteers and leaders) are outlined in your application kit. These are set out to ensure the best experience for you and your fellow participants.

Debriefing and Reflecting
Throughout our journey we will have discussion periods to share our experiences, questions and emotions. The more research you do and knowledge you come with, the more prepared you are prior to the trip, the more successful your experience will be and the more interesting, challenging and thought-provoking your group discussions will be.

Evening Program
Evenings can be total R&R nights, film nights, entertainment nights with music or dancing from talented locals, visits by local Rotaractors and Rotarians, domino nights, Carnaval nights --- always fun and generally spent at our volunteer centre.

Communicating with Home
It's a tall order, but participants are urged to leave all electronic devices at home, in order to fully engage themselves in their experiences at hand. All those significant people in the lives of participants are assured that "no news is good news" and are urged to wait for the stories to come home with the volunteer!

Judy has a cell phone with her at all times while in the Dominican for local calls and emergency calls ONLY, as do additional tripstaff. Their numbers will be provided, along with an emergency contact list and detailed itinerary, prior to departure.

Limited e-mail access may be available to leaders.
